Podcast #34:18 Hollow Oak Land Trust- Sean Brady




Sean Brady
is the Executive Director of Hollow Oak Land Trust, a conservation organization that protects and connects greenspace in the Pittsburgh International Airport Corridor. With a BA in Biology from Allegheny College and an MA in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University, Sean helped build Venture Outdoors as a regional leader in outdoor recreation from its inception in 2001 to 2010. He also served as Development Director for Riverlife, supporting sustainable riverfront development in downtown Pittsburgh. Currently, Sean manages the six conservation areas owned by Hollow Oak Land Trust and works with municipalities and private landowners to develop greenways in the airport corridor.

Lynn Rescigno 
is a Yoga teacher, a classical Pilates teacher at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) School, and a modern dancer.  Lynn practices Ashtanga yoga, Iyengar yoga and is a Jivamukti yoga teacher, who has worked under the guidance of Sharon Gannon and David Life since 1999. She has studied the works of the Krishnamacharya Lineage with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, TKV Desikachar, Tim Miller, David Swenson, Richard Freeman and many senior teachers under BKS Iyengar.  A graduate of Point Park College, Lynn was a professional modern dancer with many companies in both NYC and Pittsburgh.  She enjoys teaching yoga to people of all walks of life. Lynn also teaches a 200-Hour Classical Yoga Teacher Training at BYS Yoga in Pittsburgh; the next training class will begin in September 2018.

Brown (in his own words): “64 year old lifelong mover, born and raised in Duquesne Heights in a loving Irish Catholic household. 12 years at St Mary of the Mount and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. I was a gandy dancer, railroad engineer (proud union member and officer of div 370 of the BLE), bulk mailing warehouse line worker, stage hand and finally a warehouse supervisor. I have been an avid reader my entire life.

Tom Brown is involved with the Thomas Brown Alton Foundation (a Birmingham Foundation Fund), which organizes the annual WALKATOP Urban Hiking Adventure in Emerald View Park on Mount Washington (Pittsburgh, PA).  This year’s event will be held on September 16, 2018. Proceeds from WALKATOP benefit the Thomas Brown Alton Foundation, which is dedicated to suicide prevention by helping those in need toward improved mental health.

Terra Brozowski has been actively involved in fitness from a young age. Terra graduated from Florida State University and received her J.D. from Duquesne University school of Law. She branched out from her law career as an International tax attorney to simultaneously pursue her passions for fitness. In 2009 she opened her own personal training studio, terraFITNESS, located in the Shadyside/East Side part of the city.

“I derive enormous satisfaction from the work I do with my clients. Seeing the improvements they are able to make in their health and fitness is one of the great joys of my life.”

Terra received her certification through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, one of the country’s most respected associations for trainers. A former competitive tennis player, she helped coach the Chatham University Women’s Tennis Team to their best finish in school history. Jeff Smith and Tad Campagna are the Co-Owners of Local 5 Longboards in Slippery Rock, PA.  We interviewed Jeff Smith for the FitLabPGH Podcast.  Jeff has spent his entire professional career leading trips and educating people about outdoor adventure recreation/education. His extensive experience includes whitewater river guide/trip leader and guide trainer on eastern U.S. rivers and rivers abroad.

Jeff has been involved in rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, surfing, SUP, and white water kayaking expeditions in the U.S., Mexico, Central America, the Alps, as well as the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal. In addition, he has served as Coordinator/Counselor of Outdoor programs at Youth Alternatives in North Western Pennsylvania, Coordinator of the “Center for Outdoor Recreational Experience” (CORE) at Edinboro University, and presently is an Assistant Professor of Physical and Health Education with a focus in Outdoor Adventure Education. He also is the Coordinator of the Adventure Fitness Minor at Slippery Rock University.
